Best I Ever Had – Drake (Acoustic ...
Drake is a Canadian rapper whose song Best I Ever Had is the first single from his album So Far Gone. This song hit the Billboard Hot 100 at number 92 when it was released and has reached the number 3 position. It has been at number 1 position in the HOt R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Its vulgar lyrics may be shocking to some people but among the African-Americans it is so common as to make it so popular in the U.S. In many parts of Asia, it will not pass the censors and it will not be aired on television or radio. Even in the liberal U.S., the producers beeped the crude lyrics specifically the ones with the f-words.
I don’t understand how a vulgar song like this that not only encourages immorality but it also demeans women and doesn’t show the respect that women deserved got to be so popular. Are the Americans so amoral that they cannot differentiate what is morally acceptable and what isn’t?
The singers in this video did a great job interpreting the song. I think they even change some of the lyrics to make it a G rating. It is difficult to sing this song in acoustic especially the rapping part. They, however, manage to do it without butchering the song.
Having said that, the guitar player’s voice can hardly be heard in this video and he seemed to be mumbling the lyrics. The rapper however is fairly clear and distinguishable even though he too sometimes did not utter his lyrics distinctly.
I would give this performance a 6 out of 10.
