Coldplay is a music group from London which is made up of drummer-Will Champion, guitarist-Jonny Buckland, bassist-Guy Berryman and singer Chris Martin. Their first album released in late 2000 with the title “Parachutes”. That album marked a history for them when it won Best Alternatives Music Album at the 2002 Grammys. They won another two Grammys award from their second album “A Rush of Blood to the Head”. Another great achievement gain by their third album, “X&Y” after became the best selling album of 2005.
We all knows that Coldplay are popular with ambiguous lyrics in their song but that totally different with “Violet Hill”. This song is about war and you can find the lyric is little bit angry. Even “Violet Hill” is really breaking the trend of Coldplay song but it still become international hit. For first 3 days on the market, “Violet Hill” has been downloaded 1.5 million times. It’s really a greatest achievement for them. This song will bring you back to 60s and 70s because that times there are many anti-war protest songs created which is quite similar with “Violet Hill”.
“Violet Hill” is just about a soldier who comes back after the war end. This song start with peaceful piano before the angry guitar and drums take their place. We will feel the meaning of war just from their music.
What about the guy who known as Ben Clark in this video. He tries to bring the song with acoustic guitar. The vocal is just ok but he did well with falsetto. He plays the music nicely. One of the good cover!
