The video began abruptly and ended with the performer confessing that he hasn’t learnt the lyrics to the song! He has definitely mellowed the song from Sean Kingston’s version. Sean Kingston is essentially a reggae singer and it is difficult to sing his songs with gusto on an acoustic guitar especially with a voice like the singer in this video. He didn’t seem to be enjoying himself and was singing so half-heartedly. He laughed at his mistakes expecting the audience to laugh along with him (or at him?).

Being that this is his first video for Youtube, he should have made it error-free. He stumbled on the lyrics in the middle of the song but didn’t bother to edit it out in his final submission to Youtube. Was that done on purpose or is he trying to tell us that he didn’t care that he made a mistake? I don’t know but it showed a little indulgence on his part. Maybe he expects the audience to forgive him his mistakes because he has nice hair and good looks.

I would suggest that the singer pick another song that could highlight his voice quality (if he has any) and his guitar playing instead of a Sean Kingston’s song like Fire Burning which is actually a dance pop-reggae influenced song. Fire Burning is Sean Kingston’s latest single released in April 2009 and has peaked the chart at number 5. I wouldn’t suggest the singer to quit his day job to go into singing. That would certainly have the fire burning!
